Career and Technical Education (CTE) Spotlight on Culinary Arts
Today, we are featuring the Â鶹 Culinary Arts Program as we continue to celebrate National Career and Technical Education Month!
This Culinary Arts pathway begins with Â鶹 learning the hospitality and restaurant management end of the industry. Students will receive safety and sanitation instruction and learn to the proper use and maintenance of equipment found in most industrial kitchen facility. Students will learn recipe development and analysis, nutrition, cooking of soups, sauces, meats, starches, vegetables and salads. Baking from yeast dough to quick bread, all types of cakes including decorating, pastries and the art of presentation. The classes will all be taught under actual restaurant conditions. The curriculum and courses geared for college preparation, career opportunities, internships, mentoring and program certification.
Scholars learn under the direction of Chef Jennifer Caron and Chef Jim Morrison.
Scholars in the Culinary Arts pathway will take courses: Intro to Food Service, Culinary Choice and Culinary Choice Lab, and Advanced Culinary Arts and Advanced Culinary Arts Lab.
