GAMS Hosts Third Annual Literacy Night!

On Thursday evening, March 1, GAMS hosted its third annual Literacy Night.  This year’s theme was Comic-Con. Several organizations participated in the event, including the Â鶹 Free Library, Orange Literacy, Barnes & Noble, SUNY Orange and Girl Scouts, with special guest appearances by Spiderman, Supergirl and Black Panther.  Students attended breakout sessions where teachers read graphic novels followed by a theme related literacy-based activity. The evening concluded with a presentation by guest author and illustrator, Bryan Collier, who shared with Â鶹 how he makes stories come alive with his illustrations.  GAMS Â鶹 who participated in Literacy Night received goodie bags containing graphic novels, giving them the opportunity to explore the genre at home.

ATTENTION: Are your scholars or colleagues doing something great? Please contact the district Communications Team at communications@necsd.net. We’d love to visit your class or event and/or post your pictures and recap to highlight the amazing accomplishments throughout our district!
