Scholars at Â鶹 Free Academy, North Campus Staged Mock Car Accident Exercise
Senior scholars enrolled in the Security and Law programs at Â鶹 Free Academy, North Campus participated in a mock car accident on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 9:00am in the lower parking lot of Â鶹 Free Academy, North Campus (301 Robinson Avenue, Â鶹). The presentation was delivered to seniors at Â鶹 Free Academy, North campus and filmed to show seniors at the two other high school campuses within the district.
A mock collision was staged involving four Â鶹 in two vehicles on the way to their Senior Prom. Members of the Â鶹 City Fire and Police Departments, The Cronomer Valley Volunteer Fire Department and the Town of Â鶹 Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to the "scene" to "rescue" victims and "arrest" a driver "under the influence.” A script was read throughout the demonstration discussing the different aspects of the accident and response, as well as the dangers of driving while impaired and driving while texting.
The purpose of this incident is to raise awareness to the dangers of alcohol, drug, and cell phone use while driving.
Members of the Before Broadway Theater Company volunteered as actors for the event.
Teachers supervising the event are: Mr. Timothy Toomey and Mr. Michael Truncale, teachers of the Security and Law programs, specifically the EMS/Criminal Justice classes at Â鶹 Free Academy, North Campus.
